The standard is Enforced by Virginia Occupational Safety and Health (VOSH), Applies to all employers covered by VOSH, Most requirements must be in place immediately, Training and infectious disease preparedness and response plan, if applicable, must be implemented by March 26, 2021

[Also look at the COVID Compliance Plan packages that make it easier and faster to protect your employees and comply with the standard.]

Risk Categories in the Permanent Standard:

  • Very High
    – Employers within this category perform tasks “with high potential for employee exposure to known or suspected sources of COVID-19 or that are aerosol-generating (e.g. bronchoscopies, autopsies, laboratory & specimen collection, etc.) on persons known or suspected to have COVID-19.
  • High
    – Employers within this category perform tasks with high potential for employee exposure inside six (6) feet with known or suspected sources of COVID-19, or with persons known or suspected to be infected with COVID-19. Examples of this category include mental health providers, nursing homes, mortuary services, correctional facilities, etc.
  • Medium
    – Employers in this category perform duties which require more than minimal occupational contact inside six (6) feet with other employees, other persons, or the general public who may be infected with COVID-19, but who are not known or suspected to be infected with COVID-19. Examples of this are food processing plants, restaurants, bars, spas, gyms, entertainment services, schools, etc.
