Effective February 4, 2011, the Small Business Administration (SBA) began offering a program aimed at expanding the federal contracting opportunities for Women-Owned Small Businesses (WOSBs).
This program allows federal agencies to set aside certain federal contracts for eligible WOSBs and economically disadvantaged WOSBs. The federal government has a agency-wide goal to award at least 23% of its contracting dollars to small businesses, with a 5% goal for awards to WOSBs.
To be eligible for these opportunities, your company must be at least 51% owned and controlled by one or more women, and primarily managed by one or more women.
General Counsel, P.C. will help you determine whether being certified as a WOSB serves the needs of your business, and discuss your options in seeking third party certification. We will help you compile and review the necessary supporting documentation and ensure that your application is complete at the time it is submitted. Once certified, we can help you negotiate teaming agreements, subcontracts, and joint ventures that allow you to maximize the value of your certification and pursue valuable contracting opportunities.
