The SBA has a program designed to increase contracting opportunities to small businesses in urban and rural communities. The Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUBZone Small Business Program) allows federal contracting agencies to give a preference to small business concerns certified as HUBZone small businesses.
The federal government has a agency-wide goal to award at least 23% of its contracting dollars to small businesses, with a 3% goal for awards to HUBZone Small Businesses. Generally, to be eligible for HUBZone certification, your small business must be located within a HUBZone, and at least 35% of your employees must be residents of a HUBZone.
General Counsel, P.C. will help you determine if you meet the qualifications of entry into the HUBZone program. We will help you compile and review the necessary supporting documentation and employee calculations, and ensure that your application is complete at the time it is submitted. Once certified as a HUBZone small business, we will assist you with program-specific requirements, including subcontracts and teaming agreements that build on your certification.
